Description: Recent research has revealed that as many as one in four women Veterans experience harassment from male Veterans when on VA grounds. This harassment is associated with delayed or missed care, can create an uncomfortable if not potentially hostile environment, and can serve as a barrier to patient-centered care in environments sensitive to Veterans’ for safety, security and dignity. In this talk, we will provide the research foundation for these findings. Intended audience: VA researchers, clinicians, staff, as well as VA leadership and management responsible for oversight of the VA environment of care within and outside of clinical care areas.
