HERC Q&A: Trying to Understand Choice Data

Description: The Veterans Choice Program indicates major transitions for VA. In FY2017 VA spent approximately 30% of its budget on Choice care, compared to just 11% in FY2014. As the Choice program grows, so do the data. We are currently trying to understand the data from Choice that are available and how researchers can use them. These data include the Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act (VACAA) tables, Fee and Fee Basis Claims System (FBCS) tables, and the Claims Reconciliation and Auditing: Program Integrity Tool (PIT). Join us for a brief discussion of our findings to-date from Choice data, followed by a question and answer session.
