Description: This session will provide important information for investigators interested in submitting to the NEW HSR&D Innovation Initiative RFA (Phase 1 Planning/Start Up). Innovation Initiative will support and promote innovative, high risk, high-impact research that contributes to substantial and meaningful transformations in Veteran care and health outcomes and significant contributions to the field of health services research. 1) Phase I is a planning and startup phase that will last up to 18 months for a total funding amount of up to $200,000; and 2) Phase II will involve the full conduct and implementation of the innovation research, and will include funding up to $500,000 per year for up to 5 years (the RFA for Phase II will be released in FY 2020, and will be open only to investigators who receive planning/start up awards during Phase I). Priority Areas: 1. Suicide Prevention 2. Opioid Misuse/Pain Management 3. Access to Quality Care 4. PTSD/TBI 5.
