Description: Summary: Comorbidity assessment is a useful and important means of accounting for differences in patients' underlying health status. This presentation adds onto last year’s introductory presentation “Comorbidity Measures Using VA & CMS Data,” which provided an overview of current approaches to and issues in assessing comorbidity using VA and Medicare claims data. This presentation will focus on applying and comparing adaptations of the Charleson and Elixhauser comorbidity measures.
