Validation and Acceptability of the PTSD Primary Care Screen for DSM-5

by Michelle Bovin, PhD ; Paula Schnurr, PhD
Seminar date: 10/21/2019

Description: Currently, VA uses the Primary Care PTSD screen (PC-PTSD) to identify Veterans with probable PTSD. Although an updated version—the PC-PTSD-5—reflects the new knowledge the field possesses about PTSD, VA continues to use the old version until a valid cutoff for the PC-PTSD-5 is established. In this presentation, we will discuss a project that validated a cutoff score for this instrument, as well as examined how cutoff scores might vary across subgroups of interest (e.g., women), and explored how acceptable Veterans find the screen.
