Spotlight on Women's Health
Introducing the VA Women’s Health Research Consortium
Elizabeth Yano, PhD, MSPH
Seminar date: 3/28/2011
Description: In response to the demand for research to inform evidence-based approaches to improving access to high quality care for women Veterans, VA HSR&D Service has funded a new VA Women’s Health Research Consortium to build capacity in women Veterans’ health services research, with an emphasis on accelerating movement to interventions, quality improvement, and implementation research. Since establishment of VA’s women’s health research agenda in 2004, the number of VA investigators interested in women’s health research has tripled, with more than 150 MD and PhD investigators expressing interest in a wide array of critically important areas relevant to VA operational concerns.
This cyberseminar will describe the goals of and activities being undertaken by the VA Women’s Health Research Consortium, including opportunities for technical consultation, education/training, and dissemination support. Results of national needs assessment will also be discussed, including development of communities of practice and opportunities for research-clinical partnerships around key topical areas.
