Description: Women Veterans have traditionally represented a small percentage of patients at the VA healthcare system. However, as the number of women Veterans has grown over the last two decades, their experiences have highlighted gender-based disparities in experiences with VA care. Part of the disparities has been attributed to the VA’s workforce readiness to care for women Veterans and sensitivity to their unique care needs. In this session, Dr. Vogt will provide an overview of the development of a tool measuring VA’s workforce gender sensitivity, and Dr. Than will present the findings on the relationship between gender sensitivity and women Veterans’ healthcare experiences.
