Disrupted Care RFA Cyberseminar: Mental Health Care

by HSR&D/QUERI VA Central Office Staff,
Seminar date: 3/22/2021

Description: The COVID-19 pandemic has had profound effects on VHA healthcare and the Veterans it serves. Over this period, the VA has experienced significant changes in the volume and nature of care delivered and has documented worrying increases in all-cause mortality that may exceed the mortality directly attributable to COVID-19. HSR&D is initiating a new program of research to examine the possible connection(s) between pandemic-related disruptions in care and social support and possible increases in Veteran mortality and morbidity across chronic, acute, and mental health care settings. The goal of this service-directed RFA is to support new research studies that will generate information that the VA health system can use to better serve Veterans during the ongoing pandemic response and recovery and to prepare for future public health emergencies where care may be disrupted. These projects will focus on non-COVID priority health outcomes by examining the effects of the COVID-19 health emergency response, rebound, and recovery on population health; care utilization, including system-level and patient-level decision making; and care delivery practices across the health system. Ideally, these projects will assist VHA partners to develop strategies at the level of patient, provider, and health system to mitigate adverse effects of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and improve care delivery post-pandemic. Please join us for this cyberseminar to learn more about the RFA and to hear from partners in mental health, acute, and chronic care settings.
