Description: Abstract: In this talk, Dr. Cunningham will discuss the effect of public defenders in mental health courts. Using an instrumental variables approach, Dr. Cunningham and coauthors examine how being assigned a public defender rather than a private attorney affects recidivism and suicide attempts for justice-involved individuals.
