Adapting a Family-Involved Intervention to Increase Engagement in Evidenced-Based Psychotherapy for PTSD

by Megan Shepherd-Banigan, PhD MPH
Seminar date: 10/11/2022

Description: Dr. Shepherd-Banigan will present work from her HSR&D CDA. The goal of her CDA was to adapt and pilot test a brief family-involved intervention to increase Veteran initiation and adherence to evidenced-based psychotherapies for PTSD. She will discuss adaptation frameworks used and the process of adapting the REORDER intervention for schizophrenia to create FAMILIAR—an intervention that targets Veterans with PTSD. She will also present preliminary data from an intervention pilot with 15 Veterans and their support partners who were seeking treatment for PTSD at the Durham VA.

Intended Audience: Clinical researchers and clinicians, in particular staff psychologists.
