Supporting Multisite Women’s Health Research: Practice-Based Research Network of the VA Women’s Health Research Network

by Diane Carney, MA ; Susan Frayne, MD, MPH
Seminar date: 11/29/2022

Description: The VA Women’s Health Research Network (WHRN) was founded in 2010 (SDR 10-012, PIs Yano, Frayne, Hamilton) to accelerate research development and impacts through capacity building, national collaborative research development, and development of a practice-based research network (PBRN). The Women’s Health PBRN component of WHRN is the focus of this session. Now with 76 member sites nationally, the Women’s Health PBRN fosters collaboration between researchers, clinicians and leaders to foster the representation of women Veterans in multisite VA research and support VA’s efforts to be a learning health care system. This session will provide an overview of PBRN development, describe ongoing activities, and discuss strategic plans for the future, and highlight ways researchers can capitalize upon this national network of sites committed to improving the health and care of women Veterans.

Target Audience: Health services and clinical researchers, clinicians, and policymakers
