Code-free natural language processing / case finding using the Automated Retrieval Console (ARC)
Leonard D'Avolio, PhDc
Seminar date: 7/31/2012
Description: A review of 113 articles about NLP systems found neither the systems nor their results are generalizable*. ARC was created to address this unfortunate shortcoming. ARC provides a graphical user interface-based system that allows users to find “cases like these” and evaluate the performance of automatically generated algorithms in 4 clicks. Our performance goal is 90% accuracy for 90% of applications and in over a dozen empirical evaluations we tend to be pretty close to that number. ARC has been downloaded by researchers & clinicians at 150+ institutions and is available with video tutorials and demo data online as well as through VINCI.
