TBI: Ongoing Pharmacologic Trials

by Robert Ruff, MD, PhD ; Steven W. Wright, MD
Seminar date: 3/28/2013

Description: Dr. Ruff will provide an overview of what a successful treatment for TBI would need to do. He will also discuss the discrepancies between the hopeful results in animal studies and the less encouraging realities of clinical studies. Dr. Wright will discuss how Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major cause of death and disability for both the civilian and military environments. To date, no pharmacological treatment has been discovered that can significantly improve the outcome of TBI victims. He will also present important challenges to conducting TBI research and review several promising clinical trials currently being conducted.
