Description: Diffusion MRI is a non-invasive imaging techniques that has been shown capable of probing structural and architectural features of brain tissue in health and disease. Diffusion MRI can be performed clinical with different levels of complexity. In theory, more complex models for describing water diffusion should be able to reveal a more accurate representation of the properties of the imaged tissue, however, more complex models require more data to be collected and are generally more vulnerable to artifacts. In this talk we will be discussing advantages and limitations of Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) versus more complex models that go under the name of High Angular Resolution Diffusion Imaging. Dr. Morey will discuss damage to white matter from exposure to sub-concussive blast.
