Seminar date: 7/2/2013
Description: Tracy Clemans will present an overview of TBI and suicide, risk factors for suicidal thoughts and behaviors among military personnel and veterans who have sustained a TBI, and discuss implications for clinical practice. Craig Bryan will present and discuss the fluid vulnerability theory of suicide, an empirically-supported model of suicidal behavior. He will then present the results of a recent study finding increased risk for suicidal ideation among military personnel who have sustained two or more traumatic brain injuries during their lives. Lisa Brenner will integrate these recent results into the larger context of research focused on the relationship of TBI with suicide risk.
