One Size Doesn’t Fit All: Tailoring and the Implementation of Discharge Antibiotic Stewardship Interventions

Description: This presentation will describe the problem of antibiotic overuse at the time of hospital discharge, review evidence-based antibiotic stewardship interventions to improve prescribing and state the current implementation gap in stewardship across hospital contexts. A detailed overview of a recently-launched 40-hospital cluster randomized trial of a multicomponent implementation strategy aimed at tailoring stewardship interventions to hospital context will be shared.

Intended Audience: Implementation scientists and practitioners; physicians, pharmacists and nurses interested in antibiotic stewardship or infectious diseases; health services researchers; and policy makers.
