2014 Under Secretary Award- Improving the Value of Health Care- A VA Health Service’s Researcher’s Journey to Identify, Communicate and Implement High Value Care

Description: Dr. Wilt will describe his career as a VA-HSR&D clinician researcher at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System. He will highlight the importance and rewards of collaborative, transdisciplinary, mixed methods, patient-centered research to produce clinically meaningful findings that improve the health care we deliver to Veterans. Dr. Wilt will outline key components to becoming a “successful” health services researcher, provide project specific examples and impacts, and discuss future challenges and opportunities for VA health services researchers. He will conclude with specific goals he seeks to achieve through partnering with VA colleagues in the area of high-value health care, made possible by the support from the 2014 VA Undersecretary’s Award. Target audience: VA health services researchers and health care providers.
