Windows to the Brain: the Neuropsychiatry of Brain Injury and Common Co-morbidities

by Robin Hurley, MD, FANPA
Seminar date: 12/3/2014

Description: The human brain with its complex circuitry for cognition, memory, and emotion is one of the most poorly understood organs of the human body. The work presented in this webinar addresses the gap between knowledge of neuroanatomical circuitry and the ability to apply that knowledge “at the bedside” to assess and treat post deployment TBI symptoms and accompanying co-morbidities. In addition, a selection of the VISN 6 Mental Illness Research Education and Clinical Center’s (MIRECC) ongoing projects that address this challenge will be discussed. The target audience for this presentation includes both clinicians and researchers whose work is in the neurosciences or with OIF/OEF/OND Veterans. The level of content will be include both novice and expert concepts.
