Weaver FM, Hynes D, Ippolito D, Thakkar B, Budiman-Mak E, Khuri S, Daley J, Henderson WG. Comparison of Risks and Outcomes of Total Joint Replacement for Men and Women Treated in VA Hospitals. Paper presented at: Health Issues of Military and Veteran Women Research Annual Symposium; 2001 Sep 1; Washington, DC.
Objectives: Describe the patient sociodemographic, preoperative risk, structure and process characteristics and clinical outcomes of patients undergoing total knee (TKR) and total hip (THR) replacements in VAMCs. Examine the relationship between these characteristics and outcomes of patients undergoing TKR and THR using multivariate modeling techniques. Determine whether gender is a significant predictor of outcomes, controlling for other factors, in this population.
