Asch SM, Hamilton AB, Yano EM. Career Development Pathways in Implementation Science. HSR&D Career Development Award Enhancement Initiative [Cyberseminar]. HSR&D. 2017 Oct 10.
Implementing research evidence into meaningful and lasting changes in routine practice and policy requires diverse skills, training, and experience, much of which is not achievable through traditional academic programs. Training opportunities in implementation science methods (e.g., theoretical frameworks, trial designs) remain limited, while acquisition of the skills and experience needed to effectively engage multilevel stakeholders in partnered implementation strategies may be challenging. The purpose of this session is to explore the career development pathways of several leading implementation experts to elucidate commonalities across different approaches to developing careers in the field.
