Abstract:

Consolidation of mail outpatient prescription refills examined. Several consolidated mail pharmacy centers (CMOPS) have established to shift prescription refill and mail work away from local VAMCs to centralized locations. Evaluation of the Hines CMOP is currently underway to assess the impact of using a CMOP on local VAMC pharmacy costs, quality of service and satisfaction with care. this evaluation will help determine the extent to which CMOPs provide cost-effective and high quality service for veterans and what may be done to improve outpatient prescription refill dispensing.
