Progressive Tinnitus Management Workshops: Clinical vs. Research Settings

Martin J, Schad M, Thielman E, Kaelin C, Pendergraft P, Zaugg T, Henry JA. Progressive Tinnitus Management Workshops: Clinical vs. Research Settings. Paper presented at: American Academy of Audiology Annual Convention; 2015 Mar 27; San Antonio, TX.

Abstract:

Progressive Tinnitus Management (PTM) is a stepped-care method. Level 3 is the primary intervention phase, involving five weekly workshops. For this study, the workshops were conducted in both clinical and research settings. In both settings, outcome measures obtained from attendees after each workshop included qualitative feedback, evaluations of knowledge gained, and self-perceived impact due to tinnitus and hearing loss. Results revealed minimal differences in outcomes between settings, and that both audiologists and audiology students can successfully lead PTM sessions.
