Dawn Klein and Dr. Turvey collaborated with Veterans and Consumers Health Informatics Office (VCHIO)/My HealtheVet to increase Veterans' awareness of their capabilities for consumer mediated HIE using the VA Health Summary in My HealtheVet. The online training video, Your VA Health Summary - Share for Better Care, they developed and the associated VA Health Summary Quick Guide were featured in a Spotlight article on the My HealtheVet home page. This article, Your VA Health Summary: Share Data for Better Care, included links to both the video and the guide. The Quick Guide is now the standard guide available to patients on the My HealtheVet website. Many Veterans receive care from community non-VA providers as well as from VA. One simple way to share important VA health information such as allergies, medications, test results, and a problem list is to use the Blue Button in My HealtheVet to access a VA Health Summary. Veterans can easily view, print, and download a copy the VA Health Summary to share with their healthcare providers as well as with family members or other caregivers who help manage their health. This video shows My HealtheVet users how they can access their summary in My HealtheVet with a few simple steps.
