The purpose of the PC-MHI Monthly Education Series is to provide education about issues specific to PC-MHI/PACT to VA employees that have varying levels of experience and training working in an integrated mental health setting. The PC-MHI Education Series aims to enhance knowledge of PC-MHI services, improve understanding of the role of PC-MHI within Patient Aligned Care Teams (PACT), and to discuss opportunities and challenges of coordinating PC-MHI with PACT. "Strategies for Care of Anxiety Disorders in a PACT/PC-MHI Setting" Thursday, March 3rd, 2016 @ 2pm ET 1pm CT noon MT 11am PT Presenter: Dr. Terri Barrera, PhD Houston VAMC Program description: Anxiety disorders are common in VA primary care, yet guidelines for anxiety screening, assessment, and diagnosis in this setting are not widely available. Unspecified anxiety disorder is a common anxiety diagnosis in primary care and PCMHI, but is often an inaccurate diagnoses and may serve as a barrier to receiving appropriate mental health services. While differentiation among the numerous specific anxiety disorders can be challenging, accurate diagnosis of anxiety disorders in primary care is a critical step in providing patients with access to appropriate evidence-based treatments.
