Description: This session, Requesting Access to VA Data, is the second in VIReC’s FY21 Database & Methods series. VHA data are regularly used for research projects, to prepare research protocols, and for operational uses such as quality improvement. Ms. Kok will explain how VHA data access procedures differ based on the purpose of work and demonstrate resources for identifying data request requirements and how to submit a data request. Objectives •Learn how to determine whether a project is categorized in the VA as research, preparatory to research or operations for data access purposes. •Understand the standard data request requirements for each category of data access. •Learn about resources for instructions on how to request data sources for your project.
