A. Rani Elwy, PhD, MSc
Seminar date: 4/24/2018
Description: Rani will discuss this prospective, observational study of surgeons at 3 VA facilities who completed 62 web-based surveys about their experiences disclosing clinical adverse events to patients. Findings suggest that those who were less likely to follow nationally recommended elements of disclosure were more likely to report being negatively affected by the adverse event. Implications for surgeons’ well-being, and for open disclosure programs nationwide, will be discussed. Intended audience: Health services researchers, communication scientists, clinicians, ethicists, and policymakers.
