Behavioral Economic Approaches to Increase Physical Activity
Mitesh Patel, MD, MBA, MS
Seminar date: 6/11/2019
Description: Regular physical activity is associated with many health benefits, but more than half of Veterans do not meet the minimum recommended level of activity. Insights from behavioral economics can help to identify predictable barriers to behavior change and be used to design interventions to increase effectiveness. This presentation will describe how behavioral economics can be embedded in financial and social incentive-based interventions and reviews lessons learned from randomized clinical trials testing these approaches.
Intended Audience: Health service researchers and stakeholders interested in applying behavioral economic approaches to improve daily health behaviors among Veterans.
