Description: Anxiety, sleep difficulties and other symptoms of stress (e.g., anger, irritability, frustration) are common complaints during the COVID 19 pandemic. Unfortunately, these symptoms, when prolonged and linked to work-related stressors (e.g., the impact of COVID 19 on workplace autonomy, control over schedule, accessibility of research resources required for efficient completion of projects) can lead to professional burnout. This seminar will briefly discuss the science of burnout among clinicians, researchers and clinician-researchers, discuss how this literature relates to what we know about the impact of COVID 19 on early career researchers within VA, and share self-help resources specifically designed to help our work force address these concerns. Intended Audience: This seminar was designed around the needs of the VA Health Services Research and Development community, with particular focus on the needs of early career researchers and clinician scientists.
