Seminar date: 11/10/2020
Description: Dr. Teo will present results from two studies — one quantitative and one qualitative — that provide some insights into how social connectedness influences the course of patients with major depression. One study illustrates the role that video chat may have in reducing risk for developing depression in older adults. The second study identified “being there” as an important way that Veterans with depression conceptualize social support. Intended Audience: Researchers and clinicians interested in major depression, geriatric mental health, or virtual modalities for providing social support.
