Description: Natural language processing (NLP) is one commonly used method to provide data for clinical research and decision making by extracting data from electronic medical record systems. The VA COVID-19 Shared Data Resource is a data domain containing information related to COVID-19. This Cyberseminar will review some of the NLP methods used to supplement data elements that are not completely or consistently captured in structured sources, including oxygen therapy, symptoms, and some conditions.
Intended Audience: Investigators, project managers, and analysts that are interested in utilizing natural language processing to achieve health services research aims.
