Description: The Residential History File (RHF) is a SAS database that combines data from Medicare and Medicaid claims, nursing home Minimum Data Set assessments, and VA inpatient and outpatient records including some specific to Geriatrics & Extended Care. The RHF is organized by the dates in which a person is in a location (Ex: Acute Hospital, Skilled Nursing Facility, Home, etc) and the type of service provided on these dates (Ex: Home Based Primary Care Visits, Hospice visits, GEC Visits, etc). This presentation will present details of the database system structure, the business rules developed to create it, and some applications using it along with useful SAS coding.
