Description: The Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR) is one of the most widely used implementation science frameworks. The CFIR is often used to assess local contexts into which evidence-based practices are being implemented. However, one challenge for the field is how to translate CFIR constructs, which rely on relatively conceptual and abstract and technical language, into lay language that is clear, concise, and meaningful for front-line staff, such as clinicians. These individuals are often not familiar with the language used in these assessments or how it applies to their own situation. Assessments should be rooted in theoretical constructs and yet also need to be conceptually clear using every-day language. A pragmatic context assessment tool (pCAT) was developed as a practical instrument that can be used by researchers and practitioners to assess implementation contexts. This presentation will provide an overview of methods used to develop the pCAT along with its characteristics and limitations, based on the article published earlier in 2023 https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36631914/ .
the instrument, itself is contained in Additional File 2 with the published article. https://cfirguide.org/tools/tools-and-templates/
Intended Audience: Researchers or practitioners who implement new innovations and seek a practical approach to identify potential barriers or facilitators to implementation.
