Description: VC CORE Associate Investigators Jacqueline Ferguson, PhD and Boback Ziaeian, MD present their respective work on the redistribution of in-person and telemedicine encounters entering a post-pandemic phase. Jacqueline will delineate a timeline (2019-2023) of acute surges of telemedicine and describe the new equilibrium of telemedicine at VA in which telephone-based care has largely returned to pre-pandemic levels, but video care accounts for 10-30% of care among primary, mental health or subspecialty care services. Boback will present a national evaluation of heart failure care utilization, performance quality measures, hospitalizations, and mortality for Veterans with heart failure pre and post pandemic.
Intended Audience: Clinicians, researchers, and staff interested in virtual care/telemedicine and chronic disease management.
