Disability Claims as a Pathway to Pain Treatment in Veterans: Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment for Pain Management (SBIRT-PM)

Description: The pain care pathway is difficult for some Veterans to navigate without assistance and motivational enhancement. SBIRT-PM, based on motivational interviewing, is like other treatment navigation approaches and has been associated with receipt of more outpatient treatment. The Presenters will describe use of pain care services among Veterans seeking service-connection for musculoskeletal disorders and an approach to implementing pain care navigation among case managers who work with Veterans recently separated from the military.
