Description: Joint Longitudinal Viewer (JLV) is a web application that allows users to access complete health records from VA and DoD systems and summary data from community health information exchange partners. Currently, JLV is the only way for VA sites using VistA/CPRS to access Oracle Health/Millennium data.
JLV is beneficial to multiple applications of research as more VHA sites transition to the new EHR. This session is the first of a two-part series describing what is needed to begin using JLV for research, including an interactive presentation on setting up a JLV workspace for basic research tasks. The audience will learn the purpose of JLV, how to request research access, and how to effectively use a workspace for research purposes. This session is appropriate for users new to JLV. Those interested in more advanced JLV techniques should register for Part 2: Text searching pre-configured widgets in JLV (Joint Longitudinal Viewer)
Objectives:
• Describe JLV and its limitations
• Review process to request JLV access for research
• Demonstrate how to set up an efficient JLV workspace
• Explore basic methods for finding information in JLV, highlighting the recent updates to filters and widgets
