Abstract:

The Noise Outcomes in Servicemembers Epidemiology (NOISE) study is a longitudinal study evaluating, in part, hearing loss and its impact on the daily lives of recently-discharged Veterans. Traditional audiometric testing, testing of speech perception in noise/competition and the assessment of subjective hearing difficulties are being completed with this study population. Descriptive statistics, of cross-sectional data collected from the first 100 Veterans evaluated in the NOISE study, and their demographic characteristics, will be reported in this presentation. Implications will be discussed.
