Charleston REAP Investigator Charlene Pope, Ph.D., Named American Academy of Nursing Fellow


Charlene Pope, Ph.D., M.P.H., B.S.N., core investigator with the VA HSR&D Research Enhancement Award Program's (REAP) Center for Disease Prevention and Health Interventions for Diverse Populations at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center has been named a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.

Dr. Pope's research interests include provider-patient communication, preventive medicine, and racial/ethnic variations and disparities in health services. Dr. Pope is the Associate Nurse Executive for Research at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center and an Associate Professor of Nursing at the Medical University of South Carolina

Fellows of the American Academy of Nursing are nursing leaders in education, management, practice, and research. Academy Fellows are expected to contribute their time and energies to the Academy, and to engage with other healthcare leaders outside the Academy with the goal of transforming America's health care system through a variety of endeavors. Dr. Pope's induction as a fellow will take place in October, 2012.
