Thomas K. Houston, M.D., M.P.H. Elected Fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics

Thomas K. Houston, M.D., M.P.H.Thomas K. Houston, M.D., M.P.H., director of the VA/HSR&D eHealth Quality Enhancement Research Initiative (QUERI), has been elected to be a Fellow in the American College of Medical Informatics (ACMI).

Dr. Houston's research interests focus on integrating health informatics, patient-provider communication, and behavioral science. As director of the eHealth QUERI, he guides a research agenda designed to augment the access and use of appropriate, meaningful eHealth tools that will enhance Veterans' self-management and participation in collaborative care. In addition to his role as eHealth QUERI director, Dr. Houston is a primary care physician at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, in Bedford, Massachusetts, and a professor in the division of Health Informatics and Implementation Science at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

Dr. Houston is widely published in the areas of medical informatics, patient-provider communication, and preventive care. In 2010, he was named a Society of Behavioral Medicine (SBM) Fellow, and had served as chair of the SBM's Behavioral Informatics Special Interest Group since 2004.

The ACMI is the international community of scholars and practitioners who are committed to advancing the informatics field. It is comprised of elected Fellows from both the U.S. and abroad who have made significant and sustained contributions to the field of medical informatics.
