Veteran Engagement Forum

Description
Veteran Engagement Forums focus on engagement methods, designs, measurement, outcomes, and experiences, and should highlight best practices. We seek a wide range of approaches and experiences with Veteran engagement from investigative teams, as well as Veterans themselves. We encourage Veterans to submit their own experiences with research, including what has worked well and/or what needs improvement. Forums are 90 minutes in duration, with 30 minutes of presentation time and 60 minutes for an interactive feedback session with Veterans and other participants.

Submission Requirements

  • Objectives
  • Stage of the Research Continuum (e.g., developing aims, dissemination of results)
  • Activities (include list of discussion questions, at least half of the session should be interactive)
  • Target Audience
  • Expected Outcomes/Impacts

Workshop

Description
Workshops provide opportunities for attendees to gain new knowledge, skills, or expertise in a particular area relevant to health services researchers. Workshop content should be focused, substantive, and interactive (at least half of the session), including both large group discussion and smaller group work. Workshops are 90 minutes in duration. A workshop may have a maximum of three presenters.

  • Target Audience
  • Assumed Audience Familiarity with Topic

There is a suggested combined 500-word limit for the abstract fields. That is, the total length of the abstract (Objectives + Activities + Target Audience, etc.) should not exceed 500 words. You may want to check the length of your abstract using "word count" in a word processing program before entering your information into the form.

Oral and Poster Presentation

Please note that individuals may submit a maximum of two first-authored abstracts in the oral/poster categories (i.e., 2 orals, 2 posters, 1 oral and 1 poster).

Description
Oral Presentation. An oral presentation is focused on a single topic, and will be grouped with presentations on similar topics to comprise a session. The presenter is allotted approximately ten minutes to present, with five minutes at the end of each presentation for a question-and-answer exchange with the audience.

Poster. The poster session will host posters accompanied by their authors for an assigned period of time, usually 90 minutes. Posters report projects that can be readily summarized in graphical form, such as through tables, pictures, graphs, or other figures.
