Matthew Crowley, MD
VA Medical Center, Durham
Dr. Matthew J. Crowley is a Core Investigator at the Durham VA Center for Health Services Research in Primary Care, a Duke University Associate Professor of Medicine (Endocrinology), and a faculty member at the Duke Clinical Research Institute. He is a board-certified Endocrinologist and Internist with clinical appointments at Durham VA Medical Center and Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Crowley's research centers on evaluating health services interventions designed to improve outcomes in diabetes and hypertension. His primary focus is the development of practical, comprehensive diabetes management interventions for individuals with persistently poor glycemic control despite clinic-based care; he has a particular interest in moving disease management beyond the standard clinic setting using group visits, telemedicine, and other strategies that can be implemented in the 'real world.' Dr. Crowley is principal investigator on two trials evaluating telemedicine/eHealth interventions for patients with persistent poorly-controlled diabetes, and he is a co-investigator on multiple VA- and NIH-funded diabetes and hypertension health services research trials. He has a secondary interest in systematic review and future research prioritization, having served as an investigator on several VA-, AHRQ-, and PCORI-funded projects.
