Sonya Gabrielian, MD, MPH, is a psychiatrist and health services researcher at the VA Greater Los Angeles (VAGLA). She is an investigator at the Center for the Study of Healthcare Innovation, Implementation, & Policy (CSHIIP). Dr. Gabrielian directs the Health Services Unit at the Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center (MIRECC) at VAGLA; is Acting VA Research Director of the VA/UCLA Center of Excellence on Veteran Resilience and Recovery; is an Affiliated Researcher at the National Center on Homelessness Among Veterans; and is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. She received her MD from the UCSD School of Medicine and her MPH from the UCLA School of Public Health. She completed her residency in psychiatry at UCLA and a health services research fellowship at the VAGLA MIRECC. Dr. Gabrielian's HSR&D Career Development Award, "Improving Housing Outcomes for Homeless Veterans," focuses on implementing and evaluating a housing-skills training intervention for Veterans who have experienced homelessness. Her other research interests include improving housing retention and community functioning among homeless Veterans with serious mental illness. Dr. Gabrielian is also a practicing psychiatrist in VAGLA's Community Engagement and Reintegration Service.
