Jessica Y. Breland, PhD, is a core investigator, CDA awardee, and clinical psychologist at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System's Center for Innovation to Implementation. She is also a Clinical Assistant Professor (Affiliated) with the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Stanford University School of Medicine. She received her PhD and MS in Psychology from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, completing her pre-doctoral clinical internship at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. She completed an advanced fellowship in health services research at the VA Palo Alto and Stanford University School of Medicine.

Dr. Breland's research interests center on: 1) assessing outcomes related to implementing evidence-based treatments, especially through controlled trials in novel settings (e.g., primary care) or with novel methods (e.g., apps); 2) identifying and reducing racial/ethnic health disparities; and 3) designing and testing behavioral interventions to promote mental and physical health. Her career development award focuses on developing and testing a motivational self-help tool to increase weight loss treatment engagement.
