Kristen E. Gray, PhD, MS, BS
VA Puget Sound Health Care System, Seattle
Kristen Gray is a health services researcher and epidemiologist. Her work focuses on understanding and improving health disparities, health outcomes, and health care delivery for women Veterans, with a particular emphasis on health behaviors and chronic disease. Her HSR&D-funded Career Development Award seeks to tailor an existing intervention to men and women Veterans with diabetes to improve self-management behaviors and examine gender differences in feasibility, acceptability, and clinical improvement. The intervention leverages existing social support (e.g., family and friends) to create a more favorable social environment for self-management. Ultimately, Dr. Gray's goal is to identify effective strategies to improve health behaviors and reduce chronic disease complications among both men and women Veterans. Dr. Gray received her MS and PhD in epidemiology from the University of Washington School of Public Health. She is currently a Research Health Science Specialist at the VA HSR&D Center of Innovation for Veteran-Centered and Value-Drive Care in Seattle, WA and a Senior Fellow in the Department of Health Services at the University of Washington School of Public Health.
