Jessica JB Wyse, PhD, is a Core Investigator with the Center to Improve Veteran Involvement in Care (CIVIC) at the VA Portland Health Care System and Research Assistant Professor in the Oregon Health & Science University-Portland State University School of Public Health. Dr. Wyse received a doctorate in Sociology and Public Policy from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where she received training in qualitative and mixed methodologies with a substantive focus on the programs and policies affecting underserved populations. She then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute for Social Research, University of Michigan. She began at CIVIC as an HSR&D postdoctoral fellow in 2016. Her current program of research focuses on the treatment of substance use disorders among vulnerable patients, as well as the clinical management of complex patients with chronic pain and long-term opioid use. In 2020, Dr. Wyse received a VA HSR&D Career Development Award focused on expanding access to opioid use disorder treatment for Veterans in rural primary care settings.
