The December 2011 issue of the journal Translational Behavioral Medicine, features articles by VA Health Services Research & Development Service (VA HSR&D) investigators, clinicians, and policy makers working to implement evidence-based behavioral medicine practice in VHA clinical settings. Topics covered include, cancer screening, weight management, stroke, and mental health policy, and articles feature empirical research, case studies, conceptual models, and commentaries that illustrate the substantial translational efforts that have been initiated in the VHA.
The special section was co-edited by VA HSR&D investigators Robert Kerns, Ph.D., and Sara Knight, Ph.D. Dr. Kerns is Director of the VA HSR&D Pain Research, Informatics, Medical Comorbidities and Education (PRIME) Center, and is also the National Program Director for Pain Management. Dr. Knight is Acting Director of the VA HSR&D Research Enhancement Award Program to Improve Care for Veterans with Complex Comorbid Conditions.
TBM is an international peer-reviewed journal that offers online publications that focus on the translation of behavioral science findings to improve patient and population outcomes. All articles are available online for free PDF download for the entirety of 2012.
