Folasade May, MD, PhD
Folasade May, MD, PhD, an investigator with HSR’s Center for the Study of Healthcare Innovation, Implementation and Policy (CSHIIP), has been elected to the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI), one of the oldest and most respected medical honor societies, in recognition of her research on colorectal cancer screening and outcomes. Election to the ASCI is one of the highest honors in academic medicine.
Dr. May is a practicing gastroenterologist at the Greater Los Angeles VA Healthcare System. Guided by a passion to improve colon cancer awareness and screening—and to ultimately eradicate the disease—she conducts research on barriers to screening and works to advance public health initiatives that improve colorectal cancer awareness, particularly in underserved populations where screening rates are lowest. Dr. May has received numerous awards for her research, community engagement, and advocacy.
