Director, Veterans Affairs Health Services Research and Development Service (HSR&D) Center for Information Dissemination and Education Resources (CIDER)

This is a notice of Intent to Recruit. The recruitment announcement will be updated once a formal application link is available. This upcoming position serves as the Director of the national Center for Information Dissemination and Education Resources (CIDER), within the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Office of Research and Development, Health Services Research and Development Service (HSR&D). CIDER's mission is to improve the health and care of Veterans by disseminating important findings and information from HSR&D research to policymakers, managers, clinicians, and researchers throughout VA and the larger healthcare community – and to continuously enhance and improve HSR&D's dissemination efforts and effectiveness.

As Director of CIDER, the incumbent provides oversight of HSR&D's national dissemination/communication and education program which includes directing comprehensive analysis of the HSR&D research portfolio for dissemination/communication opportunities; evaluating the needs, strategic plans, and goals of HSR&D dissemination/communication, education, and policy development activities; and making recommendations for new directions, initiatives, policy, and procedures. The Director is responsible for all short- and long-range strategic and business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and goal setting for the development, production, and implementation of national HSR&D dissemination/communication efforts conducted by CIDER. The Director develops strong relationships with VA leaders, clinicians, and scientists in order to identify new research and innovations in priority areas. The Director is responsible for the development of state-of-the-art dissemination/communication strategies designed to provide useful, timely information to VHA managers, policy makers, and the HSR&D community about HSR&D findings, programs, and policies that improve the organization and delivery of healthcare to Veterans. The Director oversees a professional staff, including an Associate Director, as well as personnel with expertise in writing and editing, information technology and web development, social media, video and podcast production, cyberseminars, and administrative/budgeting issues.
